As I am now a personal trainer people often find it hard to believe that I was once overweight but it is true.
One day I decided to cut out the unhealthy food and almost immediately I noticed an improvement. However, it wasn’t until I started exercising regularly that I started really losing weight and feeling good about myself again. It seems so obvious now but I had just never considered it as an option until a friend persuaded me to go along with her to a class one evening.
I prefer to exercise outside and because of this my favourite way of keeping fit is by running in the local parks and on the forest trails near me. This is what I started doing in the early days and it just never seems to lose its appeal. I also enjoy indoor workouts but getting out in the fresh air is just that bit more special for me.
The feeling of wellbeing and satisfaction after a good tough workout is one of the best things in the world in my opinion. When I get back home after a couple of hours of exercising I am usually buzzing and I feel so full of energy that I am often up till late doing jobs around the house or reading.
It was after a couple of years of this that I realised that I also enjoyed motivating other people to lose weight and to achieve their fitness goals. It isn’t something I would have ever considered to be right for me in the past but it just seemed to come naturally.
Now I get as much joy from seeing one of the people in my class reach their fitness goals as I do from meeting my own objectives. I sometimes get asked whether I don’t ever get bored of doing exercises every day but I just can’t imagine living without working out now.
