If you’ve been eating a little too much over the last few months, now could be the best time to start working on losing the flab. While you could spend days reading diet books looking for the best one to suit your personal life, it’s usually much more effective to simply watch what you eat and engage in some kind of exercise. I realise that many of you will cower in horror at the very prospect of that, but contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to join a gym or run around your estate to get fit. In fact, as we’re now approaching the summertime, there’s lots of cool activities you might like to try. So, give me your attention for a couple of minutes, and I’ll do my best to highlight the ones I feel you’ll be drawn to the most. At the end of the day, there’s no reason why you can’t have a good time while getting your body in shape.
Presuming you live close to the sea, paddle boarding can be a great way of becoming more active. It’s so fun, that you probably won’t even realise how much you’re tiring yourself out. Some people prefer the idea of surfing, but this requires a lot of skill and dedication, and being as your goal is to get fit, the alternative should suffice. All you need to do is keep an eye on weather reports, buy yourself a stand up paddleboard and start having a great time. You might also like to purchase some kind of wetsuit, but that isn’t essential if you go out when the temperatures are at their warmest.
This sport is huge in America, but it’s never really found its feet in the UK and Europe. Even so, basketball is one of the most vigorous ball games around, and as you have to spend so much time ducking, weaving and jumping, it’s incredibly good for weight loss. Just make sure you don’t overdo it the first few times you play, as this might put you off continuing. Ideally, you want to find a local team looking for new members and start training with them, but there’s nothing stopping you from hiring a court at your local leisure centre and playing the game with a few friends if you have some that would enjoy it.
Over the past ten years, the woodlands of the UK and US have seen lots of investment, and as such, there’s now some amazing mountain bike tracks that everyone can use for free. This is far more interesting and enjoyable than simply biking around the streets of your town, and so you should definitely consider it if you fancy some high impact exercise. The great thing about this is that you can take the kids along for the ride too, and so it’s far less antisocial than you might imagine. Take it from someone who does this regularly, there really isn’t much that will work your muscles harder.
Now you know about some of the awesome summer activities you can try when attempting to lose weight, I’m confident your goals will be reached in no time.
