The Essential Gym Bag Checklist for Men

If you’re new to the gym, you might be panicking about what to pack in your gym bag so you aren’t caught short either before, during, or after your workout. Believe it or not, you can’t simply stroll into the gym and do your workout – you need to take a few things with you in order to leave feeling proud and accomplished. Let’s take a look at the essential gym bag checklist for men:

1.  A Pre Workout Supplement

Pre workout supplements are a great help in the gym. They can help to give you a buzz and make you stay focused and determined through the whole of your session, however; some are stronger than others, so you need to be careful. If you’re sensitive to caffeine, I wouldn’t recommend taking one of these at all. However, if you don’t fancy buying a supplement, you can always drink a cup of plain black coffee before hitting the weights!

2. A Protein Shake

A quality protein shake can help to repair your muscles faster, giving you less down time in between sessions. They’re also great as a meal supplement, as they give so much protein per serving. If you want to shed body fat and build some lean muscle mass, then I recommend you have at least 1 of these after training.

3. A Bottle of Water

If you’re working out hard enough, you’re going to need a sip of water or two in between sets. Take a small gym bottle with you so you don’t dehydrate!

4. A Towel

Towels come in handy for many reasons at the gym, especially if your gym doesn’t offer towels to all members as you come in for your session. You can use one to wipe the sweat from your brow (sometimes I sweat so much that my eyes start to sting, I don’t know about you), and you can also use it when you have a shower afterwards, if your gym has showers.

5. Clean Clothes

You don’t want to leave the gym in the sweaty clothes you have on after your workout. If you can have a shower at the gym, you’ll want to change into some nice, clean clothes afterwards.

6. Your Toiletry Bag

The toiletry bag holds a lot of important things that come in useful after the gym. They contain body wash for your shower, face wash to get rid of that nasty sweat, hair gel so you can look great as you leave, and many other products. If you don’t have one, search for a quality mens toiletry bag online!

7. A Workout Plan and Pen

Lots of people stroll into the gym with no plan. Many of these people fail, because they don’t know what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, or how long they should be doing it for. You can buy workout plans online, or even put your own together using sites like Bodybuilding.com. Take a pen with you too, so you can record your progress and stay on track!

With these items in your gym bag, you’re guaranteed to have a fantastic session!
